Walk to Dinner

Across the street from the school.  Singapore frog porridge restaurant and Grapes and Bamboo restaurant.
We tried their "Elizabethan Chicken" once.  Blech.  We pass them by on our way to Pho 24,
a favorite restaurant of the boys.

motorbikes lined up on the sidewalk

There's nothing like a  bowl of pho bo nam (well-done flank),
and a watermelon juice or a pomelo juice to top off a long day at school.

I actually like pho bo tai (rare beef steak, which cooks to well-done in the hot broth) and da chanh (lime juice),
but we all stay away from gau (fatty flank) and gan (tendon).  Just look at that beautiful broth!
According to the pho finder (http://www.phofever.com/directory.php), Seattle has 74 pho restaurants, Houston 98, NYC 55,  New Hampshire 2, West Virginia 1  Sometimes they have fun names like Unphogettable and What the pho?  You can buy a tshirt that says Pho Shizzle and one here in Saigon that says iPho

  1. Lauren, your little pho photo essay is well done. You're getting good results with the new camera. I think it's better than I could have gotten with a DSLR! And it's amazing to see those shots of places I'VE BEEN and pho I've eaten. So glad for my time there and the chance to share in your life.
