Trevor and I watching the sunrise from our boat in Ha Long Bay.
After many, many hours of often late-night conversations we have come to the difficult decision to leave Vietnam after this school year. These decisions are never easy. We have enjoyed the many incredible places we've visited while here, the strong friendships we've already made and the great experiences we've had at SSIS. Our kids have grown a lot, not just in height but also in their global perspective. They now know what it is like to be a minority and the world is much smaller place for them now.
We leave here forever connected to this incredible country and are now looking forward to our next adventure. The plan (as of November 5, 2011 at 12:18pm) is to begin the search for a position internationally. If we do not find a good fit for our family, then we will head home. With good friends and great schools all over the world it is likely that we'll find something but it is comforting to know how appealing our "fall back" option to head home is.
And, there is a lot more to this year, so we are not saying goodbye yet! We have great friends and family visiting and more great adventures ahead.
Gosh, so much change happening or being planned this year. Will be looking forward to seeing what happens to the Jackson Four... your adventures are always so inspiring.
