The Gibbons of Cat Tien

This weekend we spent the night at Cat Tien National Park, about a 5 hour drive north from Saigon. While there, we visited the Gibbon Rescue Center where they rescue these apes from the black market and rehabilitate them for reintroduction back into the wild. On our way back from our walk, the gibbons stated to call to each other from various parts of the park and it was incredible, much louder than this audio clip was able to capture. It was a special treat as they only do this once a day and only for about 15 minutes.

Here are a couple photos from the trip:

Colin with his friend Elia after purchasing gibbons at the gift shop.

A moon bear scratching his back side.
This area is a refuge for sun and moon bears as well as gibbons.

This was a spot we saw on our way back.
We walked between what looked like a school and temple
and found these massive rocks. Very cool.
