Vietnam Alphabet K

K = Kayak, Karst, and Kave

Halong Bay karst formations

Exploring the karst by kayak

Karst Kave, aka Surprise Cave.  It was, well, kavernous.
The next day we headed to Tam Coc in Ninh Binh Province, also a few hours from Hanoi to see the "Halong Bay on Land" i.e. more karst. This old woman helped us pray (i.e. sold us incense) at the top of a karst formation we climbed.

Great texture to observe up close, but it can scratch.  Here are Trevor and Lillian with our guide.

This province was once the government center in Vietnam because the karst hills make a natural fortress that's easy to defend.

  1. Hooray, you're still adding to the alphabet. This post is interesting but makes me sad because I do wish I'd gotten to Halong Bay. Enjoy, enjoy as you get close to departure.
